"Frisky"

He's Back!!!  Frisky Spider is back on the Leighton Farm website, but this time things are different.  He's located here at Leighton Farm.

Frisky is a nine year old Thoroughbred colt.  He has never been bred to a mare, but is a fantastic stallion prospect.  He is a 10+++, jaw dropping mover, making him a logical choice as a sport horse stallion.  Frisky has impeccable breeding to go with his handsome looks.  It would be hard to find a horse with more potential.  Then there's his puppy dog, "I love you", temperament.

I always wondered what it would be like to ride Frisky and now I know.  It was a dream ride.  No one had ridden him for two years when we filmed my first ride!!  Now, I will admit he needs training, but WOW is all I can say.

Click here to see his video.

Frisky does have a condition with is eyes.  While his vision is not impaired, he will need forever eye care and anytime he receives annual shots or is wormed he has to be pre medicated or it inflames the eye issue.

Okay, so no one is perfect.  Frisky does have one vice, he is a cribber, however this is controlled by a strap.

Frisky is turned out with one other gelding at night and they have become fast friends.  What I'm trying to say is that even though he is a colt, he gets along well with others.  He does know what mares are though - he is "all boy".

His owner is willing to castrate him for the right home if we don't find him a spot as a stallion.  He would make a fabulous ride.  With that movement, he is totally smooth in all his gaits.

Frisky is located at Leighton Farm in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

He is looking for the perfect home!

"Mystic"

Click here to see his pedigree.

Mystic Force is a three year old Thoroughbred gelding who has never raced or even breezed.  He is great to ride and has a kind personality that allows you to do anything with him.

He is a nice mover.  Having been bred and handled by excellent horsemen, he is a joy to work with.

Mystic stands a bit shy of 16.2 hands.

He had an issue with the vertebrae in his neck.  It is thought that he must have pulled something out of whack.

They worked on him, swam him, etc. but Katy just isn't happy with how he gallops. She said that he just is not a racehorse! The trainer seems to think that jumping won't be good for him.

Mystic is located at Chanceland Farm in West Friendship, Maryland.

A great home is a must!

For more information, please contact me.

"Bullet"

Click here to see his pedigree.

Bullet is gorgeous and he knows it!!

He is a 5 year old Thoroughbred gelding, who stands 16 hands with an athletic build.

He has raced 29 times earning over $100,000. Bullet is a classy guy and will bring that to whatever he does.

Bullet is described as an easy going guy who is willing and smart about daily horse life. He is friendly to both equines and humans and has no vices in the barn or while being ridden.

He is retiring due to a suspensory injury that will need some time to heal (probably 6-8 months). This would provide him with a good let down period and a chance to learn about a new environment too!

Bullet was bred by the prestigious Adena Springs. He is by Red Bullet out of a Mt. Livermore mare. His last race was 7/8 and he has been hand walking at the track daily since then.

Bullet is located at Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland.

For more information, please contact me.

"Joey"

Click here to see her pedigree.

Joe's Gals Way is a lovely 3 year old Thoroughbred filly.

She is 16 hands and still growing!

Joey has raced 2 times and is being retired due to chips in her knee. X-rays are available. The vet feels that with 2-3 months of 'winding down' time, she will be ready to embark on a new line of work. She is sound at this time. J

Joey is a Maryland bred, by Partners Hero out of a Distinctive Pro mare.

She has excellent barn manners and is very nice to ride. She carries herself very well and is responsive to her rider. Joey has no vices, ships well and is a friendly horse to people and equines alike.

Joey is located at Snapdragon Stables, in Queen Anne, Maryland .

For more information, please contact me.

"Robin"

Found a Home

Click here to see her pedigree.

Robin des Robyn is a 16 hand Thoroughbred mare.

She is 8 years old and has a lovely temperament.

These pictures were taken at the track, but Robin is located at a farm.  She is adored by her owner, but does not get along with the only other horse on the property so the painful decision has been made to find her a new home.

Robin has no vices and is completely sound.  She is easy to handle and work with.  Robin is very friendly and loves people.

Robin is a good mover and is located in Luray, Virginia.

For more information, please contact me.

"Ev"

Wait for the Evidence is a very handsome guy.  He is a 16.3 hand Thoroughbred gelding.

Ev is 8 years old.

He is a fast study and has learned a lot in the short time we've had him.  He has been off the track for more than two years, but we just got him.  He is longeing in the video below.

Ev is a nice mover with lots of potential.  He has no vices.

His left front knee showed a chip in 2007. It would have to be removed for racing but he should be fine for other uses. He should be good for trail riding or cross country.

Ev is available to a good home only, and is located in Harwood, Maryland.
For more information, please contact me.

"Regal American"

Click here to see his pedigree.

Regal American is up for adoption.  He is a Thoroughbred stallion.

He was foaled in 1994 and is a 16.1+ hands bay stallion by Quiet American out of Wait for the Lady (Believe the Queen).

He has been used for breeding since 2002.

He has not been ridden much since he has been on the farm. Was known to be a comfortable ride.
He is a nice horse who is lead without a chain over the nose. (A chain over the nose means breeding time to him.) Regal would make someone a nice horse. The farm where he stands no longer will use him for breeding and would like to find him a nice home.

Kim we only want to list for 45 days and then we will remove him from the list.

He is located Aquasco, Maryland.

For more information, please contact me.

"Sachem"

Click here to see his pedigree.

Sachem is an incredibly special horse.  He is one of the smartest horses his human has ever dealt with, and she has been around many, many horses.

He’s a 16.0 gelding, 13 years old, with no vices or health problems, other than his known unsoundnesses.

He has a healed DDF injury in his right hind, and arthritic changes in both front fetlocks.

Sachem needs a home where he can be a “pasture pet” or buddy for another horse. He’s probably sound enough for riding at the walk, but hasn’t been ridden since the DDF injury, two years ago.

This guy has a real sense of humor. He’ll supervise any work done in his pasture, and rearrange the tools to his preference. He could easily be taught tricks and would love to do them.

Sachem loves to have things to do, and has always been very happy to try pretty much anything he's asked. (Except for having his mane pulled - that's RIGHT OUT!) When he gets excited in the pasture, he runs around looking like the Black Stallion - head up, neck arched, tail up and forward over his butt like an Arabian! He always makes me smile, and who could resist that face?

Sachem is by Pembroke, out of the Linkage mare Coosawhatchie. Sachem’s done BN eventing, hunt trail rides, and been a "guest" horse for hacks.

Sachem started 61 times before he was 7 and was in the money 20 times, winning almost $116K, mostly in claiming races at Charles Town. He emerged from his racing career calm, sensible, self-confident and biddable, which says volumes about his amazing mind, but also about his sense of self-preservation.  He’s still full of himself, and while well-mannered, isn’t for a novice horse-owner.

Sachem is located in Berryville, Virginia and waiting to meet you.  For more information contact me.
